A little hello from the studio… 🎨🌿

I've spent much of this morning looking at photographs of hotel rooms.

Very glamorous.

Bed.

Chair.

Lamp.

Perfectly folded towel.

Another bed.

At some point, I started wondering why travel photographs work so hard to make rooms look as though nobody has ever been inside them.

Because that's not how I remember places.

I remember the coat over the chair.

The bag somebody didn't unpack.

The programme left open beside a coffee cup.

Curtains pulled back because somebody wanted to see where they'd woken up.

People leave evidence.

That's when a room becomes interesting.

And that's where I think our London Autumn Weekend should begin.

Before London Becomes London

Our November weekend begins at the Holiday Inn London – Regent's Park.

But I don't want to show you an empty hotel and call that the beginning.

I want to show you arrival.

Someone opening the door.

A suitcase coming inside.

A coat being put down.

Then the Welcome Reception.

A little time in Marylebone.

A walk through Regent's Park.

Nothing that needs to prove you've arrived in London.

Just enough time for the city to stop being somewhere you're visiting and become, temporarily, where you are.

That's the difference.

That's why I changed the campaign.

I didn't want empty rooms pretending nobody had happened to them.

I wanted arrival.

A bag on the floor.A coat over a chair.

A programme left open.

People turning a hotel room into somewhere they would return to at the end of the day.

Places Change When People Enter Them

I've been thinking about that more than usual.

Perhaps because somewhere much farther away, there's another place I've been looking at.

Salvador.

I left a piece of work unfinished there two years ago.

Deliberately.

The building hadn't lived enough yet.

Now it has.

People have walked through it.

Moved things.

Celebrated.

Argued.

Left marks.

Made memories I wasn't there to see.

And suddenly an unfinished wall is asking a different question.

London reminded me of something:

Places aren't finished when we finish designing them.

People finish them.

Or perhaps they never finish at all.

Maybe that's what makes returning interesting.

London: 27–29 November 2026

This autumn, the Tribe returns to London for a hosted weekend built around community, food, culture and time to experience the city together.

The journey includes the Regent's Park hotel, our Friendly Fridays Welcome Reception, hosted Tribe experiences, dining and time around nearby Marylebone and Regent's Park before the weekend expands into London.

And you don't have to begin in Leicester.

Travel with the Tribe from Leicester, or arrange your own journey and Meet Us in London.

Different starting points.

Same weekend.

Same temporary home.

Maybe That's When the Journey Begins

Not when you see Big Ben.

Not when somebody takes the photograph proving you went to London.

Maybe it's earlier.

You open a hotel door.

Put down your bag.

Meet somebody downstairs.

Walk around the neighbourhood.

Come back later and recognise the entrance.

For two nights, this is where your things are.

This is where people know to find you.

This is where you return.

A temporary home.

And perhaps that's enough.

Because sometimes going somewhere new reminds us that there are other places waiting for us to return.

I'm beginning to understand that myself.

Reserve Your Place

London is waiting.

The only question is where your journey begins.

🚌 Travelling from Leicester?

Arrange your own travel and accommodation, then join the Tribe in London for selected experiences, dining and community gatherings.

📍 Meeting Us in London?

Already in London, travelling independently or coming from somewhere else?

Arrange your own travel and accommodation, then join the Tribe for selected hosted experiences, dining and community gatherings.

27–29 November 2026

Booking closes Sunday, 1 November at 8:00 PM.

📖 Follow the Other Path

London isn't the only place on my desk this week.

In Episode II: Why Does Maya Say Yes?, photographs from Salvador bring me back to something I deliberately left unfinished two years ago.

The place has changed.

So has the work.

Perhaps I have too.

And before you go, tell me:

What place have you returned to and discovered it had changed while you were away?

Tell us in the comments.

Keep creating beauty in the people around you.
