Inside the Tribe with Tonyell: Culture Creates Connection

Greetings Tribe 💛✨  

Last week, we opened the doors to the Global Village.

Together, we asked our first question:

Where does the Carnival begin?

The answer wasn't a place.

It was memory.

It was community.

It was the people who choose to carry culture forward, wherever life takes them.

This week, our journey continues.

Not by looking back.

But by asking what happens after a community is born.

What happens when culture begins connecting people who, on paper, have nothing in common?

That's the journey we're beginning today.

A Story That Keeps Growing

One of the things I love most about stories is that they don't stand still.

Neither do communities.

Every conversation changes them.

Every new member changes them.

Every journey leaves its mark.

That's exactly what happens inside When the Village Dances.

The six strangers you met in Chapter One aren't strangers anymore.

Twenty years have passed.

The Tribe has grown.

The dream has grown.

And the Global Village is beginning to take shape.

Culture Is More Than Heritage

People often think culture is something we inherit.

Something passed down through generations.

Food.

Music.

Language.

Traditions.

And all of those things matter.

But over the years I've realised culture also does something remarkable.

It introduces us to people we might never have met.

It teaches us to celebrate lives that look different from our own.

It reminds us that belonging isn't limited by where we were born.

Sometimes, culture doesn't simply preserve identity.

Sometimes…

it creates family.

Building the Global Village

That idea sits at the heart of everything we're building together.

The tours aren't simply about seeing places.

Friendly Fridays aren't simply about music.

The Literary Universe isn't simply about reading stories.

Each one creates opportunities for people to connect.

One conversation.

One shared experience.

One friendship at a time.

Because communities don't appear overnight.

They grow through the moments we choose to share together.

Looking Ahead

This week, Chapter Two begins.

Our journey takes us from Leicester to Sheffield as the Tribe prepares to open a new Tribal Lounge.

Along the way, we'll explore a question that feels just as important today as it did inside the story:

How does culture create connection?

It's a question I'll be thinking about all week.
